STOCKTON, Calif. - The Kansas State men's golf team benefitted from good weather on Tuesday to score a 5-under par 279 in second-round action at the Pacific Invitational. The Wildcats sit in eighth place at 5-under par 563 heading into Wednesday's final round at the par 71, 6,757-yard Brookside Country Club.

"The weather was even better than yesterday," said head coach Tim Norris. "It was a matter of getting the ball close to the hole and making putts which we did better than yesterday. Like I said yesterday, with conditions this good it is really hard to separate yourself from the others. Hopefully we can keep making birdies and finish off the fall on a positive note tomorrow."

Oregon is in first place after carding a 23-under par 545 and has a one-stroke advantage over second-place UC Davis, who finished the round with a 22-under par 546. Fresno State is in third place after firing a 14-under par 554, while St. Mary's sits in fourth place at 12-under par 556. Rounding out the top-five is Denver, which carded an 11-under par 557.

Tyler Raber of UC Davis is in first place after carding a 15-under par 127. Eugene Wong of Oregon is in second place and sits three shots behind Raber with a 12-under 130.

Junior Jason Schulte led the Wildcats with his best single-round performance of his career as he fired a 4-under par 67 in Tuesday's second round. Schulte is tied for 22nd place with a two-round score of 1-under par 141.

"I watched him play the first hole today and he hit a really smart shot that landed on the green," Norris said on Schulte's performance. "With the hole locations being a demanding two to three strides from the edge of the green, Jason (Schulte) gave himself some good opportunities and made six birdies."

Mitchell Gregson carded his second under-par score of the tournament as he carded a 1-under par in the second round. Gregson is tied for 14th place at 3-under par 139.

Joe Ida is in sole possession of 21st place with a 2-under par 140. Following behind Ida is Joe Kinney who is in 51st place at 6-over par 148.

Freshman Curtis Yonke carded a 7-over par 149 and is tied for 52nd place.

The Wildcats will finish their fall slate Wednesday beginning at 10 a.m. (CT) with golfers teeing off from the No. 1 and No. 10 tees. Live scoring will be provided by golfstat.com.
