MANHATTAN, Kan. - With a 12-8 victory on Tuesday, the Purple squad took home its second-straight K-State Fall World Series title.

Purple had to battle back after a 7-6 walk-off win by the Gray squad in game one. However, the final three games of the series all went Purple's way, winning by counts of 6-3 on Friday and 16-5 on Saturday before Tuesday's decisive game.

The Purple squad held a 12-1 lead through seven innings on Tuesday until Gray came back, scoring three runs in the eighth and four in the ninth. But, a double play and a ground out back to the pitcher dashed any comeback hopes and gave the series to the Purple squad.

The Purple squad hit .378 as a team, including 14 doubles, two triples, six home runs, while it stole 17 bases.

Purple also received great starting pitching as its three starters combined for a 3.68 ERA with five walks and 18 strikeouts.

Due to the series victory, Wednesday's Fall World Series game originally scheduled for 7 p.m. will not be played.

The Wildcats begin the 2010 season on Friday, Feb. 19, at The Citadel Memorial Challenge in Charleston, S.C.
