SPRINGFIELD, Mo. - The Kansas State cross country teams completed their regular season on Saturday at the Midwest Regional Championships in Springfield, Mo. Senior Beverly Ramos helped the women capture a ninth-place finish, while the men's team finished 21st.

Ramos paved the way for the Wildcats marking her fifth consecutive top-10 finish in as many outings. She crossed the finish line earning an individual sixth-place finish with a 6K time of 20:55.9. Her performance was good enough to qualify her for a second consecutive NCAA Championship appearance in Terre Haute, Ind., on November 23.

Ramos is the first female K-State runner to have back-to-back NCAA Championship appearances since Amy Mortimer accomplished the feat in 2001 and 2002. Ramos finished 55th out of 252 other competitors at the championship meet last season.

Junior Sydney Messick capped off her season with a 17th-place finish and a 6K time of 20:21.4 in the regional. Messick completed her junior campaign with six consecutive top-20 finishes, including three top-5 finishes.

In the men's 10K race, freshman Mitch Loring paced the Wildcats to a 21st-place team finish, crossing the finish line with a 74th-place time of 33:19.5. Loring has been a consistent runner for the men, placing in the top-three among his teammates for the fourth time this season. Fellow freshman Tom O'Connell was not far behind Loring as he placed 79th overall with a time of 33:27.7.

Oklahoma State and Oklahoma captured first and second in the men's race, while Minnesota and Illinois placed first and second in the women's race, respectively. Those four teams received an automatic bid for the NCAA Championships.
