Kansas State leads the all-time series with Creighton, 15-4... K-State won the last meeting between the schools, 64-55, on Dec. 9, 2008 in Manhattan, Kan.... This will be K-State's first appearance in the new D.J. Sokol Arena... In K-State's last appearance in Omaha, Creighton defeated the Wildcats 69-62 on Dec. 18, 2007... Creighton (2-1) suffered its first loss of the 2009-10 season on Thursday night, as the Bluejays fell 66-59 at Marquette. The Bluejays are currently 2-0 in the inaugural season of D.J. Sokol Arena.
The Bluejays are led on the bench by eighth year head coach Jim Flanery. The 1987 Creighton graduate is 133-93 (.588) during his time in Omaha. Flanery has guided Creighton to five Postseason WNIT appearances, including a trip during the 2008 and 2009 seasons.
On the floor, Creighton is paced by senior guard Chevelle Herring and senior forward Megan Neuvirth Herring leads the Bluejays in scoring at 13.7 points per game and assists with 12. Herring led Creighton in scoring at Marquette with 12 points.
Neuvirth is Creighton's second-leading scorer and rebounder with averages of 12.7 and 5.3, respectively. Neuvirth registered 10 points and five rebounds at Marquette.

MANHATTAN, Kan. - After winning its first game, Kansas State will begin a three-game road trip with a Monday night contest in Omaha, Neb. The Wildcats will visit Creighton for the 20th meeting in the series and the first at Creighton's new arena, the D.J. Sokol Arena. The contest can be found on the K-State Sports Network as the award-winning Brian Smoller provides the play-by-play and former Wildcat Kristin Waller delivers the color analysis.
K-State secured its first win of the season with a 70-63 decision over Washington State on Nov. 20. The Wildcats were led by Naismith Trophy and Wooden Award candidate, Ashley Sweat. The product of McPherson, Kan., tallied her first career double-double with a career-high 33 points and a career-high-tying 11 rebounds. This was the highest point total in the Big 12 this season and tied for the 11th-highest in a single game in school history.
Also aiding the effort off the bench in the first win were sophomore forward Branshea Brown and freshman guard Mariah White. Brown, in a career-high 25 minutes, registered four points, six rebounds and a blocked shot.
White also provided a boost off the bench with a career-high nine points and also hauled in two rebounds.
For the season, Sweat leads the Wildcats with 21.7 points per game and 9.3 rebounds. Joining Sweat with a double figure scoring average is senior guard Kari Kincaid at 13.3. Kincaid also leads the team in assists with nine (3.0 apg).

Patterson in 14th Season at K-State Deb Patterson, the all-time winningest women's basketball coach and the longest tenured women's basketball coach in Kansas State history, has a career record of 266-148 (.643) and a record of 114-94 (.548) in the Big 12, including Big 12 regular season titles during the 2003-04 and 2007-08 seasons.
Following the 2007-08 season, Patterson was named the Big 12 Coach of the Year by the league's coaches and a number of media outlets. She also garnered national consideration, finishing as the Russell Athletic/WBCA Region V Coach of the Year and a finalist for the WBCA and Associated Press National Coach of the Year honors.
Patterson has steered the Wildcats to eight consecutive postseason appearances, including a trip to the NCAA Mideast Regional Semifinals in 2002, the 2006 WNIT Postseason crown and a second round trip during the 2008 NCAA Tournament. She is the only current head coach at K-State to guide his/her team to eight straight postseason appearances.
While guiding the Wildcats to eight straight postseason appearances, Patterson has defended the floor in Bramlage Coliseum successfully during this time, posting a 152-42 (.784) record at home including an 81-8 (.910) record against non-conference opponents.
Wildcats on the Road; Set record For Road Wins K-State has a 225-222 (.503) record in road games during the program's 42-year history. During the 21st century, K-State owns a 65-42 (.607) mark in road contests and are 82-76 (.519) during Deb Patterson's 14 seasons on the K-State bench.
K-State notched a 10-5 (.667) record on the road last season to break the previous school record of nine (1982-83 and 2001-02). Dating back to the 2007-08 season, the Wildcats have won 18 of their last 23 away contests.
Cats Protect the House Against Non-Con Foes Entering the 22nd season of action inside Bramlage Coliseum, Kansas State has protected its home floor with determination against non-conference foes with a record of 118-21 (.849) record.
In the Deb Patterson era, the Wildcats have been even better with a record of 81-8 (.910).
Wildcats in the Purple Palace K-State has enjoyed the friendly confines of Bramlage Coliseum entering its 22nd season of existence with a record of 222-81 (.733). During the last 10 seasons, K-State is 123-32 (.794) in Bramlage Coliseum including a 13-1 record in 2008-09. In Big 12 home contests, the Wildcats are 70-34 (.673).
Remember, Remember the Month of November Entering the 42nd year of women's basketball at K-State, the Wildcats have accumulated a record of 95-38 (.714) in the month of November. In the Patterson era, the Wildcats are 46-18 (.719) in the 11th-month.
Roster Size Does Not Determine Win Total Kansas State will enter the 2009-10 season with 10 players on its roster (two seniors). This is the fourth time since the 1979-80 season that K-State will enter a season with 10 or fewer players on the roster. In the previous three seasons, K-State reached the postseason, including two NCAA Tournament appearances.
This is the smallest roster for the Wildcats since the 2006-07 season, when K-State had 10 players on the roster.
The smallest roster for the Wildcats was nine players in the 2002-03 season (zero seniors) and the 1996-97 season. The 2002-03 squad finished the season with a 29-5 record and an appearance in the second round of the NCAA Tournament.
Halftime Lead = K-State 'W' Since 1999-00 Having the edge after the first 20 minutes of action has proven to be prophetic since the 1999-00 season, as K-State is 179-25 (.877) when leading at the break.
During the last two seasons, K-State owns a 47-4 (.922) record when leading with five minutes to play.
K-State Leads Big 12 in 1,000-Point Scorers In the 42nd season of women's basketball, K-State leads all Big 12 schools in 1,000-point scorers with 36. Senior forward Ashley Sweat is the only current Wildcat to surpass the 1,000-point barrier for her career with 1,356, which ranks ninth in school history.
Sweat, Kincaid Among Top Big 12 Returners Seniors Ashley Sweat and Kari Kincaid enter their final seasons in Manhattan among the Big 12's returning career leaders in a number of statistical categories.
Sweat ranks fourth among the league's seven 1,000-point scorers with 1,356 career points. With her 469 career rebounds, Sweat is seventh among the nine players in the league with 400 or more rebounds. She is also among the top 15 in steals with 102 for her career.
Kincaid ranks seventh among the nine returning players in the Big 12 with 100 or more 3-point field goals made with 106.
Sweat is Offensive and Defensive Ashley Sweat has opened the 2009-10 season by improving her place on the K-State career scoring list with 65 points in the first three games (21.7 ppg). Sweat's career total now stands at 1,356 points to rank ninth in school history. Sweat, a Naismith Trophy and Wooden Award candidate, ranks third in the conference in points per game.
Against Washington State, Sweat carded a new career-high with 33 points on 12-of-19 shooting. The point total was the highest by a Wildcat since Kendra Wecker scored a school record 41 against Illinois State on Nov. 26, 2004. The 33-point effort marked the 102nd career game the McPherson, Kan., native has tallied at least a point (every game of her career) and the 74th game she has registered 10-or more points in a game and four games with 30 or more points.
The 33 points ranks tied for 11th in school history for a single game and was the highest by any player in the Big 12 this season. Sweat is Defensive To go along with her 16 points against Indiana State on Nov. 14, Sweat tallied a pair of blocked shots to move into 10th on K-State's career blocked shots list with 54. She is the seventh player in school history to record 1,000 points and 50 blocks in a career.
Sweat Climbs Career Rebounding List Ashley Sweat has improved her career rebounding total after the first three games of the season, as she has snared 28 rebounds (9.3 rpg) and ranks tied for sixth in the Big 12 in rebounds per game. Sweat's career rebounding total ranks 28th in school history with 469 boards. The 11 rebounds against Washington State tied her career-high of 11 at Colorado on Jan. 31, 2007. The double-double of 33 points and 11 rebounds by Sweat was the first of her career.
The product of McPherson, Kan., averaged a career-high 5.1 rebounds per contest and had 20 games with five or more rebounds in the 2008-09 season.
Last season, Sweat became the 25th player in school history to register 1,000 points (1,356) and 400 rebounds (469) in her career.
No Sweat for Sweat at the Foul Line Ashley Sweat has continued her strong performance from the charity stripe from a season ago, as she has started the 2009-10 season 27-of-33 (.818) from the foul line. She ranks 12th in the Big 12 in free throw percentage.
Last season, Sweat made and attempted a team-high 132-of-158 (.835). She was the first player to make 100 free throws in a season since Nicole Ohlde made 136 during the 2003-04 season. Her total of 132 made free throws this season ranks fourth in school history. Sweat finished the season ranked fourth in the Big 12 and 39th in the nation in free throw percentage this season. She also set the school record for consecutive free throws made with 33.
For her career, Sweat is 313-of-409 (.765) from the free throw line. Her career total of free throws made ranks sixth in school history. She is the seventh player in school history to make 300 or more free throws in her career.
She also ranks ninth in school history for free throw percentage and ninth for free throws attempted.
Kincaid Kaboom Kari Kincaid has provided the Wildcats with a consistent scoring option from the perimeter in the first three games, as she is averaging 13.3 points per game and ranks tied for 19th in the Big 12 in scoring. Her 16 points in the season-opener against Indiana State was her highest point total since Nov. 23, 2008 against UTSA when she tallied 17 points.
Against Washington State, Kincaid tied her career-high for assists with six and ranks tied for 15th in the Big 12 with 3.0 assists per game.
The product of Andover, Kan., ranks 10th in school history for career 3-point field goals attempted with 317. She needs just six 3-point field goals made to tie for 10th in that category.
With the two makes from distance in both games, Kincaid now has 30 career games with two or more made three-point field goals.
Last season, Kincaid was K-State's top 3-point shooter, as she made a career-high 59 and was ranked fifth in the Big 12 in three-point field goal percentage at .371.
Sweet Childs of Mine Sophomore Jalana Childs has provided K-State with an inside presence to match Ashley Sweat in the first three games of the season. Against the Sycamores in the opener, Childs carded a career-high-tying 14 points and also tied her career-best for field goals made with six. She also attempted a career-high 16 field goals and set a career-best for assists with four.
In the second game of the season against Arkansas State, Childs tallied 10 points on 4-of-5 shooting and sent back the first two blocked shots of her career.
The double-digit scoring efforts were the fourth and fifth of her career.
For the season, Childs is averaging 8.7 points per game and is averaging 5.3 rebounds.
Shalin's Show Junior guard Shalin Spani provided a boost to the K-State offense during her first career start in the season-opener against Indiana State on Nov. 14.
The native of Lee's Summit, Mo., turned in a career-high 38 minutes of action which resulted in 15 points on 4-of-9 shooting, including a career-high 3-of-7 from beyond the arc. She is tied for seventh in the Big 12 in 3-point field goals made per game at 2.0.
In the last two seasons, Spani has nine games with two or more connections from the 3-point line.
Last season, Spani's season was cut short due to a knee injury but she averaged 3.9 points in 25 games played.
What Brown is Doing for Us Sophomore Branshea Brown has provided K-State with an post presence off the bench for the Wildcats in the first three games this season. Brown is averaging 2.7 points and 5.7 rebounds in 16.3 minutes per game.
Against Washington State, Brown registered four points, six rebounds and a blocked shot in a career-high 25 minutes of action.
In the second game of the season against Arkansas State, Brown hauled in a personal season-high seven rebounds and also scored four points.
Chambers Finds Bottom of Net Freshman Brittany Chambers shook off a sour debut against Indiana State to register her first career points and her first career 20-point game.
The product of Belle Plaine, Minn., recorded a career-high 20 points on 6-of-9 shooting from the field, including a career-best 4-of-6 from beyond the arc. The four connections from deep were the most by a K-State freshman since Laurie Koehn was 5-of-10 in the first round of the 2002 NCAA Tournament against Kent State on March 15, 2002. Her four makes were the most by a Wildcat since Kari Kincaid was 4-of-10 against Colorado in the first round of the 2009 Big 12 Tournament on March 12, 2009.
The 20 points by Chambers was the first time a K-State freshman has led the Wildcats in scoring since Jalana Childs carded 14 points against Oklahoma State on Feb. 15. It was the highest total single-game total by a freshman since Ashley Sweat tallied 31 points at Wyoming in the Postseason WNIT on March 28, 2007.
For the season, Chambers leads the Wildcats in 3-point field goal percentage at .455 (5-of-11) and is tied for 11th in the Big 12 for 3-point field goals made at 1.7.
Karr Races to Career-Highs Freshman Taelor Karr was able to jump start the K-State offense off the bench in her career debut, against Indiana State on Nov. 14.
The 5-8 guard from Paola, Kan., recorded nine points, three rebounds, three steals and two assists against the Sycamores.
In her second career game against Arkansas State, Karr made her first career start and tallied seven points, two rebounds and a career-high five assists.
For the season, Karr is tied for 15th in the Big 12 in assists at 3.0.
