WHO MUST REGISTER...
All high school student athletes who want to compete in athletics at the college level; all junior college student athletes who are entering a Division I or II institution for the first time on or after August 2007.

WHAT IT IS...
The center maintains and processes all of the initial-eligibility certifications, as well as, amateurism certifications – both of which are necessary if a student wants to compete in intercollegiate athletics.   

WHEN TO REGISTER...
It is recommended that high school students register during the summer before their senior year.  High school students must be registered with the EC prior to making an official visit to any NCAA institution and prior to signing a National Letter of Intent.  Transfer students must register prior to signing a National Letter of Intent.

HOW IT WORKS...
You must register online and pay the registration fee.  High school students must submit high school transcripts, proof of graduation, ACT or SAT test scores, and complete the amateurism questions; transfer students must complete the amateurism questions.

GENERAL INITIAL / TRANSFER ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS


Per NCAA and Big 12 Conference Rules


Big 12 CONFERENCE Transfer Rules
These rules must be met PRIOR to fulfilling any applicable NCAA rules regarding initial / transfer eligibility.

C.R. 6.2 – Qualifiers and Non-Qualifiers
- To be eligible for athletics aid and competition, ALL STUDENTS must be certified a Qualifier prior to their initial enrollment – either full-time or part-time- at any collegiate institution.

C.R. 6.2.1.1 – Four Year Transfer (Non-Qualifier)
- To be eligible for athletics aid and competition must:

• Attended the 4-YR school for at least three full-time semesters AND have completed at least 36 hours of transferable credit with a minimum, cumulative 2.0 GPA

• Completed at any collegiate institution at least 48 hours of transferable credit with a minimum, cumulative 2.0 GPA

C.R. 6.2.1.2 – International Transfers
- An international student can be immediately eligible for aid, practice and competition provided the following:

• Student must meet all applicable four-year college transfer requirements

• Student has served a year in residence at the foreign institution

C.R. 6.2.1.3 – Two Year Transfer (Non-Qualifier)
- To be eligible for athletics aid and competition must:

• Graduate with an Associate’s degree

• Complete 48 hours transferable credit

• Minimum, cumulative 2.0 GPA


NCAA Transfer Rules
These rules must be met IN ADDITION TO fulfilling any applicable Big 12 Conference rules regarding initial / transfer eligibility.

Students Graduating from High School / Prep School (see NCAA Bylaw 14.3.1)
– To be eligible for athletics aid, practice and competition:

• Certified Qualifier

• Final Certified Amateur

• Enrolled full-time at member institution

Two-Year Transfer Student (Final Qualifier) (see NCAA Bylaw 14.5.4.1)
– To be eligible for athletics aid, practice and competition must have:

• Spent one full-time semester at two-year school

• 2.0 GPA

• 12 hrs transferable credit for each full-time term of attendance

• Meet any additional, applicable progress-toward-degree requirements

Two-Year Transfer Student (Final Non-Qualifier) (see NCAA Bylaw 14.5.4.2)
–To be eligible for athletics aid, practice, and competition must have:

• Graduated from two-year school

• 48 hrs transferable credit

• Spent three full-time semesters at two-year school

• 2.0 GPA

• Meet any additional, applicable progress-toward-degree requirements

Four-Year Transfer Student (see NCAA Bylaws 14.4.3.1; 14.4.3.2; 14.4.3.3; 14.5.5; 14.5.5.4)
 –To be eligible for athletics aid, practice, and competition must have:

• Must serve a year in residence unless an exception to residency requirement is met.

• To receive athletics aid – student must have been academically eligible to compete had the student remained at the previous institution.

• Must meet applicable credit-hour, progress-toward-degree, and GPA requirements depending on number of full-time terms of attendance.

4-2-4 Transfer Student (see NCAA Bylaw 14.5.6)
–To be eligible for athletics aid, practice and competition must have served a year in residence unless the following conditions are met:

• Complete an average of 12 hours of transferable credit for each full-time term of attendance at the 2-YR school AND minimum, cumulative 2.0 GPA.

• One calendar year has to have elapsed since student’s departure from the 4-YR school.

• Student must graduate from the 2-YR school.

Walk On Policies

If you are interested joining one of the K-State Athletic programs – you must contact the individual sport office in which you are interested.  Each team’s walk-on process is different and the sport office can answer any questions you might have regarding that team’s walk-on procedures.
