2008: Started nine games, and played in all 12... Was selected as the Offensive Newcomer of the Year for the Big 12... Selected to the All-Big 12 Honorable Mention team (PR/KR/WR)... Ranked 19th in the nation and 5th in the Big 12 in receiving yards... Also 15th nationally and second in the Big 12 with a kickoff-return average of 28.0 yards... Led the team in receptions (67), receiving yards (1049) and receiving touchdowns (9)... Finished sixth all-time and second among juniors on the school’s single-season yardage list... JUNIOR COLLEGE: Rated a three-star prospect and the No. 62 junior college player in the country by Rivals.com out of Bakersfield College... Earned First Team All-America honors from JC Gridwire as an all-purpose player/wide receiver... Also named a PrepStar JUCO All-American... Helped lead Bakersfield to a No. 1 national ranking, a 12-1 record on the season and a berth in the Southern California championship game... Set two of BC's single-season receiving records in catches and receiving yards with 93 receptions for 1,397 yards... His 15 touchdowns also set a school record... With 107 catches over his two-year career, Banks is also the all-time leader at BC in pass receptions... Also known as a dangerous kick returner, Banks returned 16 punts for 177 yards, an average of 11.1 per return, and nine kickoffs for an average of 19 yards a return... Caught six passes for 198 yards and four touchdowns against Mount San Antonio in the state championship game.
HIGH SCHOOL: A four-year starter and two-time all-conference selection at Garner High School for head coach Nelson Smith... Greater Neuse River Conference Offensive Player of the Year and Garner Trojan team MVP as a senior... Helped the Trojans to three consecutive conference championships and a 33-5 record over his final three seasons... Named to the 2006 USA TODAY All-USA high school track and field team after posting a 10.42 in the 100-meter dash and a 21.44 in the 200... Competed at the 2006 Nike Indoor Championships where he finished third in the 60 (6.81 seconds), fifth in the 200 (22.28 seconds) and seventh in the long jump (22 feet, 4.25 inches)... Was a two-event individual champion in the 2006 North Carolina 4A State Championships (200, long jump)... Ran the fastest 200m time in North Carolina in 2006 (21.42).
PERSONAL: Brandon Banks was born Dec. 21, 1987... Parents are Daryle and Monique McNair... Half-sister Gabby Mayo was the 2006 High School Track Athlete of the Year and signed with Texas A&M... Attended the same high school as current NBA star and former NCAA Player of the Year David West.
