BILL SNYDER FAMILY STADIUM

Picturesque Bill Snyder Family Stadium has been the home of K-State's football team since 1968.

Renamed in honor of legendary head football coach Bill Snyder by a proclamation of the Kansas Board of Regents on Nov. 16, 2005, Bill Snyder Family Stadium sits on the north end of campus.

Originally named KSU Stadium, the facility was built at a cost of $1.6 million and financed from student fees, athletics gate receipts and contributions.

The stadium opened its doors Sept. 21, 1968, with a 21-0 shutout of Colorado State. The original seating capacity was set at 35,000, and an expansion in the summer of 1970 added 4,000 permanent bleachers on the east side and 3,000 temporary bleachers on the west side.

Following the 1998 season, the addition of a deck and sky suites on the east side of the stadium increased capacity to more than 50,000. On Nov. 11, 2000, 53,811 fans witnessed Kansas State 's 29-28 win over Nebraska . It remains the largest crowd to ever witness a sporting event in the state of Kansas.

The Vanier Football Complex received a major renovation in 2007, which included a new training facility, weight room, equipment room, coaches' offices, meeting rooms, locker room and permanent seating in the north end zone.

New video and message boards were also installed at the north and south ends at a cost of $1.7 million. The south end of the stadium received a fully integrated ProStar VideoPlus display system that measures a whopping 23' X 61' and is one of the biggest in college football.

The Dev Nelson press box at Bill Snyder Family Stadium is located on the west side of the facility and the field is oriented north (left) to south (right).

INDOOR PRACTICE FACILITY

Indoor Practice FacilityIn addition to Bill Snyder Family Stadium, Kansas State’s practice facilities include the 94,000 square foot Indoor Practice Facility, which recently received a complete upgrade with the installation of new FieldTurf.

K-State football's Indoor Practice Facility is believed to be the largest in the nation, with enough space for multiple full squad practices taking place at once. The huge facility's roof height also allows for full special teams practice, with kickoffs and punts not even coming close to touching the ceiling.

Combined with K-State football's three regulation sized grass practice fields, K-State has the ability to practice and prepare on a variety of surfaces in almost any weather condition.

VANIER FOOTBALL COMPLEX

Vanier Football ComplexK -State’s commitment to excellence is never more evident than when one views the recent renovations that took place in and around the Vanier Football Complex, an all-in-one facility that houses the K-State football program. The renovations completed an $8 million overhaul that was finished in time for the 2007 season.

Among the impressive improvements: a newly-renovated 15,000-plus square foot weight room and athletic training facility, a state-of-the-art hydrotherapy center, new and expanded player’s locker room and lounge area complete with flat-screen televisions, an upgraded equipment distribution center, technologically advanced meeting rooms with the latest in video equipment, and new offices and meeting space for the coaching staff.

One of the most dramatic pieces of the project was completed in 2006 when K-State finished construction on a reconfiguration of the north end zone seating at Bill Snyder Family Stadium. The upgrades resulted in new tiered bench seating with a capacity for 1,900 patrons and a sweeping runway leading from the locker room to the playing field.

The renovations in 2007 came on the heels of a more than $13 million stadium expansion that included 31 new luxury sky suites on the east side of Bill Snyder Family Stadium in 1999. The expansion raised the number of sky suites at the stadium to 57, included the addition of 2,000 club seats and a new upper deck seating area that pushed the capacity of the facility over 50,000.
