One of the Big 12’s top fullbacks... An explosive blocker who also has good hands and excels in the pass game... May see some time at tight end... Should challenge for all-league honors in 2005... Listed as the No. 8 fullback in the country by The Sporting News... One of K-State’s three captains for 2005.

 

2004 (Junior): Played in all 11 games, with eight starts... Did not start three games due to formation... Was a key blocker in K-State's rushing attack... Had only carry of 2004 vs. Nebraska (11/23) for three yards... Had one reception for 11 yards vs. Louisiana-Lafayette (9/18)... Recorded two receptions for seven yards against Texas Tech (10/30)... Had three kickoff returns for 37 yards at Missouri (11/6).

 

2003 (Sophomore): Appeared in all 15 games, serving as the primary back-up to Travis Wilson... Also saw time at tight end... Made his only start of the season vs. Missouri (11/22)... Had four carries for seven yards on the year... Scored his first career touchdown against Kansas (10/25) on a one-yard run in the third quarter.

 

2002 (Redshirt Freshman): Named Lifter of the year by Powercat Strength staff in the spring... Played in all 13 games... Was the primary back-up to Travis Wilson at the fullback spot... Earned his lone start in the season finale against Missouri (11/23)... K-State’s seventh-leading rusher with 97 yards on 23 carries, averaging 4.2 yards per carry on the year... Tallied three runs of over 10 yards during the season, including a season-best 13-yard scamper at Missouri... Earned his first career carry in the season opener against Western Kentucky (8/31)... Had three carries each against Louisiana-Monroe (9/7) and Colorado (10/5)... Broke off an 11-yard run against Oklahoma State (10/12)... Registered a 10-yard gain at Kansas (11/2)... Gained 15 yards on four carries vs. Nebraska (11/16)... Totaled a season-high 47 all-purpose yards against Missouri... Had a season-best seven carries for 33 yards against the Tigers and his first career reception for 14 yards.

 

2001 (Freshman): Redshirt season.

 

Country Day HS: Honorable mention All-American by USA Today... Listed among top 100 running backs in nation by Rivals.com... Fort Worth Star-Telegram Offensive Player of Year as senior... Two-time selection to all-state private schools team... All-area pick by Fort Worth Star-Telegram and Dallas Morning News... Participated in National High School All-Star Game in Dallas... Team’s MVP as junior and senior... Three-time all-conference selection... Listed among top 100 recruits from Texas by Lonestar Recruiting magazine... Set school records for single-game rushing yards (314), single-game touchdowns (5) and single-season rushing yards (1,515)... Averaged 140 yards rushing and two touchdowns a game as a senior... High school coach was David Rascoe... Lettered and started three seasons in football... Also lettered three seasons and was three-year starter in basketball, earning team MVP honors twice... Lettered once in track.

 

Personal: Born Sept. 13, 1982, in Lubbock, Texas... Parents are Roderick and Cassandra Smith... A kinesiology major.
