David Rose Game Highlight

A hard-working veteran cornerback who has seen most of his playing time on special teams... Came on strong down the stretch in 2003, showing solid cover skills... Had a great spring and is the leading candidate to earn starting duties at one cornerback spot entering camp... Is and extremely intelligent player and could push for academic All-America honors with enough playing time.

 

2003 (Junior): A first team Academic All-Big 12 selection... Appeared in 13 games on special team and as a reserve cornerback... Totaled nine tackles on the year, including five solo stops... Notched a pass break-up against Iowa State (11/8)... Posted a season-high two stops against McNeese State (9/6)... Credited with one tackle each in seven games.

 

2002 (Sophomore): Played in 13 games... Finished season with 11 tackles, including 10 solos... Also credited with one fumble forced... Best game was a 3-0-3 performance vs. Nebraska (11/16).

 

2001: Redshirt season.

 

Contra Costa College: All-Bay Valley Conference in 2000... Led the state in interception return yards and had two interception returns for TDs... Lettered in both football and baseball... Head coach was Jose Ortega.

 

El Cerrito HS: Was an All-Metro and all-county selection... One of five finalists for Northern California Athlete of the Year... Two-time All-Alameda-Contra Costa Athletic League player as a defensive back... Was an all-league running back for one season... Rushed for 1,500 yards and 20 touchdowns as a senior... Earned honors from Alameda Newspaper Group and West County Times as a senior... High school coach was Frank Milo... Three-year letterwinner and starter at El Cerrito... Also lettered and started for three seasons in baseball... All-state player as a senior... Drafted by the Colorado Rockies.

 

Personal: Born June 21, 1982... Parents are Tyrone and Sheila Rose...  Father was a wrestler at UNLV... A black belt... A marketing major.
