A consistent long-snapper on punts who may add snapping on placements to his duties in 2004... Is also tenacious on punt coverage... Was such a force on punt coverage that he spent a portion of the 2003 season on K-State’s kickoff cover unit... A team leader who was elected as a player representative during the spring.

2003 (Junior): Handled long-snapping duties for K-State’s punt unit... Recorded two tackles on special teams and recovered a fumble at Texas (10/4).

2002 (Sophomore): Played in all 13 games at long snapper.

2001 (Redshirt Freshman): Saw action in one game.

2000 (Freshman): Redshirt season.

Newton HS: Honorable mention all-state selection on defensive line... Named All-Ark Valley League first-teamer on both offensive and defensive lines... Three-year starter and letterwinner for Railroaders, who were coached by Ted Jantz... High school teammate of linebacker Ted Sims... Also lettered for three years in track and field... Finished third in javelin and fourth in 110-meter hurdles at 5A state meet as a senior.

Personal: Born Nov. 16, 1981... Parents are Russell Vanover and Debbie Schmidt... A business administration major who hopes to own his own business after graduation... Enjoys fishing.
