An experienced and versatile safety who will be counted on as a defensive leader... Enter 2005 with 26 consecutive starts under his belt, 29 total... Is solid in both coverage and run support.... A preseason second team All-Big 12 pick by Athlon.

 

2004 (Junior): Started all 11 games... Opened the first three games at free safety before moving to strong... Finished second on the team in total tackles with a career-best 58, including 31 solos... Had one interception and tied for the team lead in pass break-ups with six... Opened the season with eight tackles (seven solo) against Western Kentucky (9/4)... Recorded a career-high 11 tackles, including eight solo stops, against Fresno State (9/11)... Credited with three tackles and an interception against Louisiana-Lafayette (9/18)... Broke up one pass to go along with five tackles at Texas A&M (10/2)... Made six tackles against Oklahoma (10/16)...  Broke up a season-high three passes to go with three stops vs. Texas Tech (10/30)... Had five tackles at Missouri (11/6)... Made  a touchdown-saving tackle against the Tigers; Missouri was eventually forced to kick a field goal on the drive... Credited with eight stops at Colorado (11/13)... Finished the season with six tackles and a break up vs. Iowa State (11/20).

 

2003 (Sophomore): Started all 15 games at free safety... Totaled 41 tackles, including four for loss... Credited with three total tackles in the Tostitos Fiesta Bowl vs. Ohio State (1/2) with one for loss... Had a big game in the Big 12 Championship vs. Oklahoma (12/6), finishing with four total tackles, including three solos and a five-yard tackle for loss, to go with two pass break-ups...  Recorded three tackles and two pass break-ups against Iowa State (11/8)... Posted a season-high seven tackles against Baylor (11/1), with six solos...  Credited with six tackles against Oklahoma State (10/11), including three solo stops... Collected his first career sack against California (8/23)... Turned in five tackles against the Bears.

 

2002 (Redshirt Freshman): Played in 11 games, starting against Texas (10/19) and at Baylor (10/26) at free safety... Made 21 total tackles (11 solo)... Had a season-high four (2 solo) in a win over USC (9/21)... Had three solo stops in victory over Oklahoma State (10/12)...

Returned one of his two interceptions on the season 34 yards for first collegiate touchdown at Baylor... Had a 40-yard interception return against Oklahoma State.

 

2001 (Freshman): Redshirt season.

 

Hayden HS: First team all-state pick and member of Kansas Super 11 team as a senior... Among top 70 players in Midlands area by SuperPrep magazine... Topeka Offensive Player of the Year in 2000... Rushed for 1,691 yards (11 yards per carry) his senior year to lead the city of Topeka... Also led the city in total offense with 1,796 yards, scoring 27 TDs for 166 points... Three-time all-city and All-Centennial League pick... Hayden won 1998 state football championship... Lettered four seasons and started for three years at Hayden... High school coach was Tom Stringer... Also lettered in baseball, basketball and track.

 

Personal: Born Feb. 11, 1983, in Topeka, Kan... Parents are John and Theresa Tetuan... Plays guitar... Second oldest of five sons... Brother, John, was a first team All-American pitcher at Wichita State and was drafted in the ninth round by the Colorado Rockies in 2002... A marketing major.
