Big-time play-maker who is a threat to go the distance at any moment... Possesses excellent vision and instincts... Is also an outstanding kickoff returner.

2007: Saw action in all 12 games with one start... Second-leading rusher with 390 yards on 83 attempts and four touchdowns... Averaged 4.7 yards a carry on 83 touches... Also caught 15 passes for 62 yards and a touchdown... Returned 20 kickoffs for a 22.2-yard average... Recorded his first-career touchdown reception against Auburn on a 21-yard wide receiver pass from Jordy Nelson... Rushed for 21 yards and a touchdown against Missouri State... Ran for 16 yards and a touchdown against Kansas... Also threw a five-yard touchdown to receiver Deon Murphy against the Jayhawks, the second in his career in as many attempts... Had 40 yards on 12 attempts against Colorado... Had 56 yards on nine carries and a touchdown at Oklahoma State... Carded a season-high 113 yards on 17 carries against Baylor... Rushed for 52 yards on three carries, including a career-long 45-yard touchdown at Fresno State.

2006: Saw action in 12 games with three starts... Earned honorable mention All-Big 12 honors from the coaches as a punt/kick returner... Received freshman All-Big 12 and honorable mention All-America accolades at running back from The Sporting News... K-State’s leading rusher with 609 yards on 108 carries (5.6 avg.)... Set the K-State freshman record for rushing yards in a season and a game... Led the Wildcats in rushing touchdowns with six and tied for second on the team in scoring with 42 points... Also tossed a touchdown pass on his only attempt of the season and return a kickoff for a score... Ended the year ranked seventh in the Big 12 in all-purpose yardage (88.0 ypg)... Ranked fourth in the league in all-purpose yards during conference play (114.9 ypg), ninth in rushing (68.1 ypg) and fifth in scoring (7 TDs)... Scored a touchdown in each of the last five games of the regular season... Ripped off seven runs of 20 yards or more during the season, five of which went for 30-plus yards... Ran for 102 yards and a score at Kansas, giving him three 100-yard games this season... Just missed a fourth 100-yard game with 96 yards and a touchdown at Colorado... Ran for a score and also threw his first career touchdown pass in win over No. 4 Texas... Rushed for 112 yards and totaled 274 all-purpose yards at Missouri... His 274 all-purpose yards against the Tigers ranks 10th all-time in school history... Rushed for 151 yards on 21 carries in his first career start against Oklahoma State, the most ever by a true freshman... Also returned a kickoff 95 yards for a score vs. the Cowboys and totaled 301 all-purpose yards, the most ever by a K-State freshman, en route to Big 12 Special Teams Player of the Week honors... His 301 yards against OSU were also the most in the Big 12 this season and the fifth most in school history... Rushed for 22 yards on seven carries in his first career game vs. Illinois State... Became the first true freshman running back to play for the Wildcats since Darren Sproles in 2001... Also has 10 catches for 125 yards out of the backfield.

High School: A 2005 District 9-5A first team selection... Rushed for 1,309 yards on 169 carries (7.7 ypc) and scored 11 touchdowns as a senior... Rushing total ranked 11th in all of class 5A... Also had 20 catches for 359 yards and three scores... Earned second team all-district honors as a junior... Totaled 738 yards and eight touchdowns on 70 attempts (10.5 ypc) in 2004... Coached by Mike Zoffuto... Also lettered in basketball and track as a prep.

Personal: Leon DeMarcus Patton was born Feb. 8, 1988, in Dallas, Texas... Parents are Vincent Nelson and Teresa Patton... Has a younger brother and sister... Cousin, Jason Smith, is a tight end at Baylor... Plans to major in engineering... Enjoys drawing and design... Selected K-State over offers from Baylor, Colorado State and Kansas.
