2008: Appeared in three games during redshirt freshman campaign... Helped lead the Wildcats to a fourth place ranking in the Big 12 in fewest sacks allowed.

HIGH SCHOOL: Prepped at Raymore-Peculiar High School, perhaps the top high school program in the state of Missouri... Helped lead Ray-Pec to Class 5 state titles in 2004, 2005 and 2006... A first team all-state selection as both a junior and senior by the Missouri Coaches Association, the Missouri Sportswriters and Sportscasters Association and the Kansas City Star... Also earned All-Metro honors from the Kansas City Star  as a junior and senior and was a three-time all-conference and all-district performer (2004-05-06)... Served as a captain for the Panthers during his senior season... Anchored an offense that averaged 365 yards and 41 points per game during the past three seasons... Blocked for current Wildcat quarterback Carson Coffman during the 2004 and 2005 seasons at Ray-Pec... Coached by Tom Kruse... Also lettered twice in basketball and once in track & field.

Earned the nickname “The Diesel” as a prep for the way he mowed down opponents... Selected K-State over interest from Michigan State, Kansas, Missouri and Colorado State.
