MANHATTAN, Kan. Kansas State’s Scott Sellers earned his second postseason honor of the 2007 outdoor season on Monday afternoon, as he was named the 2007 Midwest Men’s Field Athlete of the Year by the U.S. Track and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).

Sellers won his first career Big 12 title with a meet, school and stadium record clearance of 7-07.75. The record-setting performance was also the fourth-best effort in NCAA history and the 15th highest effort in United States’ history. This was the first Big 12 high jump title for a K-State male since Nathan Leeper won in 1998.

The sophomore from Katy, Texas added an NCAA Midwest Regional title to his mantle with a meet record-tying height of 7-04.50. He is currently ranked 32nd in the world in the men’s high jump, according to the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF).

Sellers, along with nine other athletes and two relay teams, will compete in the 2007 NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Sacramento, Calif., beginning on Wednesday.
