Letter from A.D. John Currie -- August 26

Dear Wildcat Nation,

I am writing this letter as Lon Floyd and I are returning from a great three-day trip out to Western Kansas where we made close to 20 stops and visited with over 70 K-Staters. Our 1,000-mile swing included stops in Pratt, Dodge City, Montezuma, Garden City, Holcomb, Garden City, Scott City, Dighton, Ness City and Great Bend, and I continue to be impressed with the passion and loyalty of our fans.

10 days and counting until the K-State Family Reunion!

It was great to see so many of you at Fan Appreciation Day last Saturday supporting Coach Snyder and our student-athletes.

We recently announced that a postgame fireworks show will cap the Family Reunion weekend. A similar show was a huge success at a Wildcat baseball game this past spring and I would like to thank our Fan Experience office, the K-State Student Union Program Council, Commerce Bank, Briggs Auto, Varney's Book Store and Kite's Bar and Grill for making this happen.

We are also thrilled that over 300 of our former football players plus their families are returning to Manhattan for the K-State Family Reunion. So keep an eye out for your favorite Wildcat as each player returning will don a jersey with their number from their playing days, courtesy of Dave Dreiling and GTM Sportswear

Less than 6,500 tickets remain for the first game but we still have good seats available. There are approximately 400 GA tickets remaining for UMass at $20 each, while military personnel can also receive a $20 GA ticket in Section 28 with proper identification. Group tickets for the UMass game are available for as low as $10 as well.

If you still need tickets, you can order here online at
www.k-statesports.com, or you may also purchase them at the K-State Athletic Ticket Office in Bramlage Coliseum. If you wish to personally discuss ticket options, you can also call the ticket office at (785) 532-7606 or Andrew Hamor in the Ahearn Fund office at (785) 532-7984.

Members of our staff and a large number of student-athletes recently assisted K-State students as they moved into their residence halls.
Our students are an integral part of our success and home field advantage and assisting them is just one small way for us to give back and reciprocate our sincere appreciation.

Season tickets for volleyball and men's and women's basketball season are now available here at kstatesports.com. Coach Fritz and the 22nd-ranked volleyball team open the 2009 season this weekend in Omaha, Neb., and then at home on September 1.

As always, I appreciate your comments and suggestions, so keep sending me your thoughts, ideas, concerns or questions. I do ask for your patience with my responses as we recently encountered some technical issues that have now been ironed out. I do want to personally answer your questions.

I am looking forward to September 5! It is going to be a special, special weekend.

Go Cats!

John Currie
