The annual joint reception is a good example of how K-State and KU work
together off the field to advance higher education and serve the citizens of
the state of Kansas. There is no questioning the intensity of our rivalry on
the fields and courts of competition. At the same time I appreciate the
collegiality and sportsmanship amongst Wildcat and Jayhawk fans that I
witnessed around the stadium last year. Let's continue to be national leaders
in setting a good sportsmanship example.
Bowl Plans
Although we are just halfway through the football season, please start
thinking about making plans for the holidays as the Cats are bowl eligible for
the second straight year. Click
here to visit our bowl information page, which includes a listing of all
Big 12 bowl destinations and links to reserve your tickets before the November
30 priority deadline.
Big 12 Update
It was great to have TCU's Chris Del Conte join our Big 12 athletic
director's conference call earlier this week. In case you missed my previous
letter you can click
here to read more about this important addition. The response from our fans
has been great!
Of course as I write this letter the Missouri Curators are apparently working
to discern the Tigers' future affiliation. We are very excited about the
growing momentum of the Big 12 and hope Missouri will choose to be part of it.
President Schulz is doing a great job with the Big 12 expansion committee which
continues to meet regularly. As we monitor the landscape and assess future
opportunities I believe we have exciting stuff on the horizon.
Fall Sports Update
As construction continues on our new Basketball Training Facility, both our
men's and women's basketball teams have begun practice for the 2011-12 season
on the newly resurfaced and designed floor at Bramlage. Visit k-statesports.com
for schedule and ticket information!
Both golf teams were in action this week as well as the women finished ninth in
Norman, Okla., and the men 11th in Shreveport, La.
Good luck to our tennis and equestrian teams this weekend as the Wildcat
netters will head to the Kansas Invitational Saturday in Lawrence with action
beginning at 9 a.m. at the Jayhawk Tennis Center, and the equestrian squad
travels to Auburn, Ala., and Athens, Ga.
Congratulations to reigning Big 12 Player of Year Petra Niedermayerova on
advancing to the semifinals of the 2011 ITA/Riviera Women's All-American
Championships. By advancing to the semifinals, she automatically qualified for
a spot in the USTA/ITA National Indoor Intercollegiate Championships, Nov. 3-6
in Flushing N.Y.
Eric Stonestreet in MHK!
Finally, I enjoyed meeting Emmy Award winner and K-State graduate Eric
Stonestreet this week as he made a trip back to campus, which included stops to
both basketball workouts and a visit with Coach Snyder and the football team.
Eric constantly promotes K-State on Twitter - we are proud to call him one of
our own! Check out his show, Modern Family, each Wednesday night on ABC - very
funny sitcom!
Be sure to follow us on twitter, facebook, k-statesports.com, K-StateHD.TV and K-State

Thank you for your continued support of our student-athletes and we will see
you Saturday in Lawrence for an exciting Sunflower Showdown!
Go Cats!
