R.V. CHRISTIAN TRACK COMPLEX
The R.V. Christian Track Complex was recently updated and is regarded as one of the best training facilities in the Midwest for both track and field.
The complex includes an 8-lane Rekortan surface and a 110-meter incline/decline sprint lane. The complex also features a men's and women's locker room, team room and offices in the northeast corner of the stadium.
Permanent seating for approximately 2,500 is located on the west side of the facility, which was originally constructed in 1973 prior to a $1.4 million renovation of the complex in 2004, and additional seating for nearly 500 has been installed this spring on the east side of the track.
R.V. Christian Track Complex was put to the test in 2005, as it was the site of the Big 12 Outdoor Track and Field Championships. It was the first Big 12 Conference meet held in Manhattan and first outdoor conference championship since the Big Eight Championships in 1985. Over the course of the three day meet, 14 facility records were broken.
AHEARN FIELD HOUSE (INDOOR TRACK & FIELD)
The Wildcats utilize historic Ahearn Field House during the indoor track season.
The track, named for legendary coach Ward Haylett, has hosted three conference championships including the 1997 Big 12 Indoor Championships.
The venue is also one of America 's showplace indoor facilities. It houses the natatorium, indoor track, four tennis courts, K-State volleyball, and the Ward Haylett Track in Ahearn makes it one of the top indoor facilities in the Midwest. It has also been a recent home of the National Junior College Athletic Association Championships, including the 2004 meet.
In the summer of 2008, Ahearn Field House completed over $800,000 in improvements to the building, including lighting, track resurfacing and sports medicine upgrades.
