professionally. 
Sunflower State talent has been a big part of Kansas State’s emergence on the college football scene. No fewer than 27 Kansans have received all-conference honors from either the league’s coaches or the Associated Press since 1990, while a total of 19 Kansans have earned All-America recognition. Included in that group are a pair of Big 12 Defensive Players of the Year in linebacker Mark Simoneau and defensive back Terence Newman, two Academic All-Americans in defensive back Jon McGraw and offensive lineman Ryan Lilja, a Thorpe Award winner (Newman), a Butkus Award semifinalist (Simoneau), a Biletnikoff Award finalist (Jordy Nelson) and a Groza Award runnerup (Jamie Rheem).
