217 Wildcats Named to Fall Honor Roll

IRVING, Texas - The Big 12 Conference released its 2011 Fall Commissioner's Honor Roll on Friday with a total of 217 Kansas State student-athletes making the list. The conference recognizes all student-athletes at its member institutions during each semester with a 3.0 GPA or higher.

Of the 217 K-State student-athletes recognized for their academic excellence, 36 own a perfect cumulative 4.0 GPA. K-State, which ranked No. 1 in the Big 12 in graduation rate for all student-athletes for four of the last five years, has placed 200 or more student-athletes on the honor roll for eight straight semesters.

Rowing led all Wildcat athletic teams with 46 honorees on the honor roll, including 13 student-athletes with perfect 4.0 GPAs. Other total student-athletes on the honor roll include football (38), equestrian (32), women's track and field (26), baseball (16), men's track and field (14), volleyball (12), women's golf (7), men's golf (7), women's basketball (8), women's tennis (6) and men's basketball (5).

The 36 Wildcats named to the list with a perfect cumulative 4.0 GPA include: Chelsey Bonds (women's track), Nicole Burdiek (rowing), Annelle Chestnut (women's track), JuliAnne Chisholm (women's basketball), Courtney Cook (volleyball), Elizabeth DeMars (rowing), Allison Dorau (rowing), Allison Franken (rowing), Ransom Gardiner (men's track), Danielle Glynn (rowing), Lea Hauldren (rowing), Kate Hennessy (equestrian), Laura Hildebrandt (women's golf), Alex Hrebec (football), David Klaudt (men's golf), Collin Klein (football), Ryann Krais (women's track), Paige Lechtenberg (equestrian), Sydney Messick (women's track), Megan Murray (rowing), Tyler Norris (men's golf), Paige Osterloo (women's golf), Ali Pistora (women's track), Karlee Rainbolt (rowing), Brian Rohleder (football), Rachel Rusk (equestrian), Erika Schiller (women's track), Lindsey Schmeidler (rowing), Traci Smiley (rowing), Jennifer Smisek (rowing), Sarah Swenson (women's track), Abigail Weaver (rowing), Staton Weber (football), Hanna Wiltfong (rowing), Danielle Winters (women's track), Daniel Wood (men's golf) and Julia Zeiner (women's track).

Nationally known for its passionate fans, family atmosphere and academic success, K-State Athletics enjoyed enviable across-the-board athletic success in 2011 including a 10-3 record and No. 2 Big 12 finish in football, a NCAA Sweet 16 run by volleyball, NCAA appearances by men's and women's basketball and baseball, the Big 12 Conference Player of the Year in women's tennis and NCAA championships in the high jump and heptathlon, while USA Today recognized the Wildcat program as one of only 22 in the country to operate in a surplus for the most recent fiscal year and one of only five to do so while decreasing expenses from the previous year.
