MANHATTAN, Kan. – Following a soft opening during the fall semester, K-State’s new state-of-the-art Ahearn Fund Student-Athlete Performance Table at Bill Snyder Family Stadium officially opens its doors today.
The new facility, located on the terrace level of the new West Stadium Center, will now meet the unique nutritional demands of all 450 K-State student-athletes five days a week beginning today. With hours of operation from 4:30 p.m. – 8:30 p.m., Monday through Thursday, and 3 p.m. – 8 p.m. on Sunday, the new performance table will cater to every nutritional need for each of K-State’s 16 athletic programs. Sodexo, the official food-service partner for K-State Athletics, will be responsible for daily operation of the facility.
Michelle Sullivan, the Performance Table manager, administers the food-service operation. With assistance from Executive Chef Michael Moyes, and K-State Athletics Sports Nutritionist Scott Trausch, the staff can help the student-athletes lead a healthy lifestyle while meeting their sports-specific nutritional goals.
“The new Student-Athlete Performance Table is another piece to the puzzle of providing a world-class student-athlete experience and allows us to fuel our athletes with a variety of fresh and healthy whole foods daily,” Trausch said. “Every student-athlete requires an individualistic approach to his or her fueling plan, and with Chef Mike and his staff we have the ability to meet those needs.”
In addition to providing meals to student-athletes, Sullivan, Moyes and Trausch will be on hand to educate student athletes about the power of food and provide them with the knowledge and abilities to select quality, nutritious, high-performance meals.
The design of the Performance Table is built around a three-step meal builder philosophy to help the student-athlete navigate and choose the best combinations of food based on their individual needs.
