MANHATTAN, Kan. - The K-State Super Store, the official merchandiser for K-State Athletics, will hold the title as the world's largest K-State fan gear location when its expansive new store opens this August.
The new facility stretches across more than 9,000 square feet and provides practically every piece of K-State fan gear imaginable. From T-shirts to dog beds, the K-State Super Store is the one-stop shop for Wildcats looking for unique K-State items. The store opens to the public August 8, and the grand opening festivities will begin Friday, August 15. A ribbon-cutting ceremony, which is open to the public, is scheduled for August 19 at 10 a.m.
"This new location has been a dream for quite a while," said Kyra Dreiling, K-State Super Store's Director of Retail. "As our business has expanded, thanks to K-Staters everywhere, so have our facility needs. The K-State Super Store team and our entire GTM family are so excited for this new opportunity. Whether it's every game day or your annual trip home to Manhattan, we're happy to be here for K-Staters."
Located in front of Menards at 519 McCall Road in Manhattan, the new K-State Super Store can be found directly across the street from its former location. The previous K-State Super Store location, 520 McCall Road, will be renovated to sell gear produced by its parent company, custom apparel producer GTM Sportswear. GTM Sportswear, which is celebrating its 25th year of business this year, opened the K-State Super Store in 1996.
"We congratulate our great partner Dave Dreiling and the entire GTM Sportswear team on the new K-State Super Store and look forward to continuing our partnership to grow the K-State brand locally and beyond," said Athletics Director John Currie. "By visiting the K-State Super Store, fans will not only have the opportunity to expand their Wildcat merchandise collection, but they will also support the athletic program directly with each purchase."
Last summer, K-State Athletics and Manhattan-based GTM Sportswear announced an expanded and innovative long-term partnership that made all of the company's K-State Super Store locations the official merchandise vendor for K-State Athletics. Additionally, the K-State Super Store at the Stadium is now in its second year of operation and provides fans an in-stadium store option with its location near the main entrance of the West Stadium Center.
As part of the agreement, K-State Athletics receives 8-12 percent of all purchases from all area K-State Super Store locations. In addition, GTM will continue to pay annual licensing royalty fees to LRG, K-State's official merchandise licensee agent, for each product that is produced by GTM for sale to K-State fans.
Ahearn Fund members will continue to receive store discounts that are redeemable at all K-State Super Store locations including during the grand opening events.
