McSherry Paces Cats Through Two Rounds

CARROLLTON, Texas – Kansas State freshman Niamh McSherry paced the Wildcats on Monday through the first two rounds of play in the Bruzzy Challenge at the par-72, 6,335-yard Maridoe Golf Club.
McSherry is tied for 38th at 11-over par 155. The Wildcats are in 15th place entering Tuesday's final round at 63-over par 639. K-State is five strokes behind UTSA in a field that features six teams ranked in Golfstat's Top 50.
Trailing McSherry by five strokes was fellow freshman Ella Adams, who carded a 16-over par 160 and is tied for 59th. Freshman Reid Isaac followed by carding a 17-over par 161 to enter the final round tied for 62nd.
Senior Connie Jaffrey shot an uncharacteristic 20-over par 164 and is tied for 70th. Rounding out the Cats was freshman Darby Deans, who is at 28-over par 172.
Texas A&M sits atop the leaderboard after carding a 15-over par 591 through 36 holes. The Aggies hold a four-stroke lead over second-place Iowa State and a 14-stroke advantage over third-place Houston. The Texas A&M duo of Maddie Szeryk and Ariana Saenz are deadlocked for first on the individual leaderboard at 2-under par 142.
The Bruzzy Challenge will conclude Tuesday with an 8:30 a.m., shotgun start time. Live results can be followed on www.golfstat.com.
