Gandon Gears Up for NCAA Regionals

MANHATTAN, Kan. – Kansas State junior men's golfer Jeremy Gandon will make his first-career postseason appearance as he heads to Stockton, California, to compete in the 2018 NCAA Stockton Regional, next Monday through Wednesday, at the Reserve at Spanos Park.
The tournament will consist of 18 holes per day, beginning with a 7:30 a.m. (PT) tee time on Monday. The field will feature 13 teams and 10 individuals as the top five teams and lowest individual not on an advancing team will move on to the 2018 NCAA Championship, May 25-30, in Stillwater, Oklahoma.
"This week has been busy with studying for finals," Gandon said. I have been finding time in between finals to go out there and practice. The weather has been good, and I have been trying to focus on playing rounds instead of just hitting balls.
"I am ready. I do not have any expectations. I am just trying to play three good rounds and see where it goes."
Gandon heads into the tournament with a team-best stroke average of 72.79. He automatically qualified for regionals after claiming co-champion honors at the Big 12 Championship. Gandon also earned an individual title at the Missouri Tiger Invitational in mid-April, an event that included a season-best round of 4-under par 68.
"Jeremy is excited to compete this weekend," head coach Grant Robbins said. "He is playing really well right now and has a lot of confidence coming off his performance at the Big 12 Championship. I look for him to have a great week."
Joining Gandon in playing solely as individuals in Stockton are Carl Yuan (Washington), Riley Elmes (Loyola Marymount), Vinnie Murphy (Grand Canyon), Felix Mory (Cal State Northridge), Blake Tomlinson (Utah), Charles Corner (UTEP), Henry Lee (Washington), Ryan Han (UC Davis) and Michael Christifulli (Siena).
