Deans Named WGCA All-American Scholar
Jul 03, 2018 | Women's Golf
MANHATTAN, Kan. – Kansas State freshman women's golfer Darby Deans was honored for her work in the classroom on Tuesday as she was named an All-American Scholar, the Women's Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) announced. Deans' honor gives the Wildcats 10 All-America Scholar honors since 2012.
The criteria for selection to the All-American Scholar Team are some of the most stringent in all of college athletics as the minimum cumulative GPA to be considered for the award is 3.50. Deans, a business major, was part of 1,011 golfers across all three NCAA divisions to be named to the team.
The academic accolade is the second for Deans this year as the Frisco, Texas, product was named to the 2017-18 Academic All-Big 12 Rookie team last month. She played in seven events this past season as a true freshman, tallying an 80.09 stroke average.
