MANHATTAN, Kan. – K-State sophomore Margot Decker begins the 2018-19 season as the Intercollegiate Tennis Association's (ITA) No. 111 ranked singles player, as the organization revealed the season's initial rankings Tuesday.
Decker, who played her freshman campaign at the No. 1 singles position for K-State, was a Big 12 Second Team (singles) and All-Freshman Team selection during the past spring season.
A native of Blodelsheim, France, Decker reached a ranking as high as No. 104 in helping the Wildcats to a 15-11 (4-5 Big 12) record and earning their first NCAA Tournament appearance since 2003. The Cats defeated 26th-ranked Kentucky in the opening round and finished the season as the nation's 42nd-best squad.
Decker led K-State to its second-highest win total ever and most since 2012 while reaching a ranking as high as No. 28 in 2018.
The ITA ranks the top 125 national singles players, with the next set of rankings set to be released on November 14 before the spring dual campaign begins.
K-State begins its fall season at the Big 5 Challenge in Fort Worth, Texas, beginning Thursday, September 20.
