K-State Looking to Bounce Back in Arizona
Sep 20, 2018 | Men's Golf
MANHATTAN, Kan. – The Kansas State men's golf team will continue its fall season this Friday through Sunday at the Maui Jim Intercollegiate in Scottsdale, Arizona. The tournament will be played at the par-70, 7,081-yard Mirabel Golf Club.
The three-day tournament will consist of tee times beginning at 7 a.m., local time all three days, with 18 holes being played each day.
"We are looking forward to competing this weekend, especially after the final round being rained out in Iowa," head coach Grant Robbins said. "This is a really strong field. The golf course is in great shape and is a tremendous test from tee to green. It's a great opportunity for us to go up against some of the best teams in the country."
K-State will be looking to bounce back from last week's Golfweek Conference Challenge, where the Wildcats placed 10th out of 16 teams. Senior Jeremy Gandon paced K-State in the rain-shorted event, finishing with a 36-hole score of 2-under par 142.
Gandon, as well as junior Ben Fernandez, redshirt freshman Brian Choe and true freshman Will Hopkins all remain in the K-State lineup. Senior Roland Massimino is the only new addition, filling in for injured sophomore Kyle Vance.
The Wildcats will be joined in Scottsdale by Arizona State, Auburn, Augusta, Clemson, Georgia Tech, Georgia State, Houston, Kent State, LSU, Minnesota, NC State and Oregon State.
