Basketball Teams to Hold Open Scrimmages on Saturday

MANHATTAN, Kan. – Fans will get a chance to see the Kansas State men’s and women’s basketball teams in action on Saturday, as each squad will hold an open scrimmage at Bramlage Coliseum prior to the Texas Tech football game.

The women’s team will scrimmage from 2-3:00 p.m., with the men following from 3:15-4 p.m.
 
Fans will also have the opportunity to purchase men’s and women’s basketball tickets during the scrimmages. Ticket representatives will be stationed on the west concourse near sections 9 and 10 to process ticket orders or answer questions from interested fans. Current season-ticket holders are also invited to upgrade their existing seats or add additional tickets to their account. 

Season tickets for women’s basketball start at only $20 for men’s basketball and football season ticket holders. Tickets for the matchup with UConn on Sunday, December 11, will also be available for just $5. The Big Game mini plan for men’s basketball is $250 and includes 10 games, the KU game on Big Monday, February 6 and all nine weekend games.

Armed with a veteran roster, the Wildcats will look to build on their summer trip to Italy and Switzerland with the return of nine lettermen and six players returning with starting experience, highlighted by All-Big 12 Third Team selection Wesley Iwundu and All-Newcomer honorees Barry Brown and Dean Wade. Overall, the squad returns five of their top six scorers from last season, along with nearly 70 percent of their rebounding, assist, steal and minute totals. 

Under third-year head Jeff Mittie, the women’s basketball team returns nine letter winners from a squad that reached the second round of the 2016 NCAA Tournament. The Wildcats will be led by 2016 All-Big 12 First Team selection and two-time Big 12 All-Defensive Team honoree Breanna Lewis and 2016 All-Big 12 Second Team selection Kindred Wesemann. Overall, K-State returns 75 percent of its scoring and assists and 87 percent of its rebounding.

Women’s single-game tickets for the 18-game home schedule went on sale to the public October 3, including a new off of discounted general admission tickets when purchased before gameday. Advance GA tickets are only $5, a savings of $3. Prices for single game tickets this season are: $5 for general admission youth military and senior citizens, $8 general admission adult, $9 for reserved bench/cushion seating and $12 for chairback.

Ticket packages are available now for the K-State-Connecticut matchup. A $20 chairback ticket package that includes an exclusive t-shirt is available until Tuesday, December 1 or while supplies last. A $38 Wildcat 4 Pack is another affordable option and includes four general admission tickets and four $10 concessions vouchers.

Men’s single-game tickets for the 18-game home schedule, excluding the Kansas game, went on sale to the public on October 3 with exhibition and non-conference game tickets starting at $10. Several season ticket packages as well as the Holiday, Pick 5 and Big Game Mini-Plans are also currently on sale.

The men’s basketball team plays the first of their two exhibition games on Friday, October 28 when the Wildcats host Pittsburg State at 7 p.m., while the women’s squad opens their two-game exhibition slate on Friday, November 4 against Washburn at 5:30 p.m.
