Basketball Teams to Host Scrimmages Saturday

MANHATTAN, Kan. – Fans will get a chance to see the Kansas State men’s and women’s basketball teams in action on Saturday, as each squad will hold an open scrimmage at Bramlage Coliseum prior to the Oklahoma football game.

The women’s team will scrimmage at 11:30 a.m., with the men following at 12:15 p.m.

Fans will also have the opportunity to purchase men’s and women’s basketball season tickets during the scrimmage at the Select-A-Seat event. Tags will be placed on available seat locations and ticket representatives will be stationed on the west concourse near sections 9 and 10 to process ticket orders or answer questions from interested fans. Current season-ticket holders are also invited to upgrade their existing seats or add additional tickets to their account.

The scrimmages will be the first opportunity to see a number of new faces for both programs, as the men’s team will welcome 10 newcomers, including seven scholarship players, while the women’s squad welcomes six new student-athletes. The men’s group will be led by NJCAA First Team All-American
Carlbe Ervin IICarlbe Ervin II (Oklahoma City, Okla./Connors State College) and freshmen Barry Brown (St. Petersburg, Fla./Gibbs), Kamau Stokes (Baltimore, Md./Fork Union Military Academy) and PARADE All-American and Mr. Kansas Basketball Dean Wade (St. John, Kansas/St. John). Sophomore transfer Kaylee Page from nearby Wamego, the 2014 Gatorade Kansas Player of the Year, and senior Louisville transfer Megan Deines highlight the new members of the women’s team.

The men’s basketball team returns six lettermen, including five with starting experience, highlighted by senior guard Justin Edwards (6.3 ppg., 3.3 rpg.) and junior forward Wesley Iwundu (5.8 ppg., 3.5 rpg.). The Wildcats will also regain the services of junior forward D.J. Johnson, who missed the entire 2014-15 season due to a foot injury.

The women’s basketball team returns eight letterwinners led by preseason All-Big 12 selection Breanna Lewis (11.5 ppg., 6.4 rpg., 2.9 bpg.), junior guard Kindred Wesemann (8.0 ppg., 2.6 apg.) and senior guard Bri Craig (6.1 ppg., 2.3 rpg.).
