Bryan Earns HERO of the Week Honor

MANHATTAN, Kan. – Sophomore Christoff Bryan's stellar performance at the Ward Haylett Invitational earned him HERO Sports’ HERO of the Week honors, the sports media site announced on Monday.

Bryan won the award after receiving over 45 percent of the vote necessary to be named for the website’s weekly honor. He is also the first athlete from K-State to ever be named to the honor.

The weekly award is the second honor the sophomore has received as a result of his efforts at the meet. He was named Big 12 Athlete of the Week on May 11, heading into the Big 12 Championship.

He dominated the field at K-State’s only home outdoor meet of the season, winning the high jump with a personal best mark of 2.25m/7-04.50. The jump also tied him with Charles Burney for sixth place on the school’s all-time best list in the event. At Big 12’s this past weekend, Bryan finished in third place with a mark of 2.19m/7-02.25.

Bryan and the Wildcats now how have a little less than two weeks to prepare for the NCAA West Preliminary, which will be held at Rock Chalk Park in Lawrence, Kansas on May 26-28. More information on the meet can be found at the events home page by clicking here
