Cats Wrap up Fall Slate in 11th

AUSTIN, Texas – The Kansas State women’s golf team completed its fall schedule Tuesday by finishing in 11th place following the final round of the Betsy Rawls Longhorn Invitational at the par-72, 6,298-yard University of Texas Golf Club. The Wildcats concluded with a team score of 37-over par 901 following a 13-over par 301 in the final round.

“We did not play up to our standards that we set in practice,” K-State head coach Krisi Knight. “In a field this strong it is vital to get four solid scores, and we were not able to do that. We look forward to spring season and continuing our efforts to improve as a team.”

Junior Madison Talley led the way for the Wildcats by finishing in a tie for 31st at 8-over par 224, while sophomore Connie Jaffrey and freshman Chloe Weir tied for 35th with a 9-over par 225. Jaffrey carded the best final-round score for the Wildcats at even-par 72.

Rounding out the K-State lineup, junior Katherine Gravel-Coursol tied for 53rd by carding a 16-over par 232, and senior Scotland Preston tied for 55th with a 17-over par 233.

Kent State won the team title after firing a 5-under par 859, eight shots ahead of Texas Tech. Red Raider Gabby Barker won the individual honor with a final score of a 5-under par 211, one shot ahead of Kent State’s Taylor Kim and UNLV’s Elizabeth Prior.

The Wildcats will resume the 2015-16 season Feb. 12-14, at the Florida State Match-Up at Southwood Golf Club in Tallahassee, Florida.
