Sophomore Carolina Costamagna and freshman Ana Garcia Navas are set to compete in the USTA Clay Court Invitational this weekend, November 5-8, at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex and Hyatt Regency Grand Cypress in Orlando, Florida.

Garcia Navas, from Valencia, Spain, will look to improve upon her 5-2 singles record that she has posted through two tournaments this fall. She takes on Florida Gulf Coast University's Joselyn Treyes in the Gold Singles Draw to open the weekend. Costamagna, a native of Cordoba, Argentina, tries to keep her momentum going after winning four of her last six matches. She faces Monica Matias of University of Central Florida to start in the Garnet Singles Draw on Thursday.

"The USTA Clay Court is a very prestigious tournament, by invitation only, and we are very excited for Ana and Caro to be a part of it," explained K-State head coach Danielle Steinberg. "The tournament is on green clay, so I am hoping both players will feel more at home and comfortable since both grew up playing on clay. We had a little break since our last tournament, which was important for recovery, but it also means we might be a little match play rusty. I am hoping we will be able to get back into it rather quickly."

The two last competed at the ITA Central Regionals in mid-October in Stillwater, Oklahoma, with each winning two of their three singles matches.

The duo will also be partnered up for the first time as they will compete in doubles against University of South Alabama's Laura Matuskova and Alexandria Stiteler in the Gold Doubles Draw on Thursday afternoon.

"Both Ana and Caro are having a great fall so far," said Steinberg. "Caro started the fall a little slow, but worked very hard to get back into it and has been playing great tennis and winning tough matches. Ana has been practicing and competing hard ever since she got here in August. We are still working on getting stronger and lasting longer in high-level matches, but she is definitely improving constantly. This will be a tough tournament, but I am pretty certain both are about to play their best tennis so far this fall."

The USTA Clay Court Invitational, which is the final tournament of the fall for the Wildcats, features one round of women's singles and doubles at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex on Thursday before it moves to the Hyatt Grand Cypress for the second, quarterfinal and consolation singles rounds on Friday. All Saturday and Sunday matches will be played at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex.

There are 16 teams attending the tournament, which is hosted by Florida State. K-State is the lone school representing the Big 12.

Select matches on Thursday and championship Sunday will be streamed live on ESPN3.
