Cross Country Heads to Stillwater for Cowboy Jamboree

MANHATTAN, Kan. – After finishing its first two races in the top five, the Kansas State men’s and women’s cross country teams will travel south for the first time this season to compete in the Cowboy Jamboree in Stillwater, Oklahoma on Saturday.

The women’s 5K is slated to begin at 9:15 a.m., CT, which will be immediately followed by the men’s 8K race, which will begin at 9:45 a.m., CT.

“I am looking for the team to run together as a pack as much as possible this weekend,” head coach Ryun Godfrey said. “They train well together and now we need to continue this in race situations.”

This will be the second-straight season that the Wildcats have competed in Stillwater at the Cowboy Jamboree. The men finished in fourth place in the 2015 edition of the meet, while the women went on to finish in sixth place in the competition.

In the team’s last race on September 17, both the men and women finished in third place at the Woody Greeno Invitational in Lincoln, Nebraska, scoring 78 points and 53 points, respectively. Wedekind posted K-State’s best mark of the meet, finishing second with a time of 22:03.9.
