Cross Country Set For Second Race of 2015

MANHATTAN, Kan. – The Kansas State cross country teams will race in their second match of the season as they travel to Wichita, Kansas to compete in the WSU J.K. Gold Classic Duals.

The men’s 6k race is set to begin at 8:30 a.m. CST, followed by the women’s 4k which will begin at 9 a.m. CST.

“This is just another good chance to get a quality workout in,” head coach Ryun Godfrey said. “We are racing early before the heat kicks in so that will be good.”

The Wildcats, which competed in the Bob Timmons Invitational on Tuesday night, will send a different squad Saturday, with only four racers overlapping from the first race.

“It will basically be our second tier of runners,” Godfrey said. “However, there are probably a couple of individuals in there that will be top-seven performers by the end of the season.”

Among those competing on Saturday include sophomore Bryan Zack, who placed 17th at the Bob Timmons Invitational with a time of 19:51.5, and sophomore Madysen Nestor, who finished 25th with a time of 20:16.0.

The teams performed well in their opening meet, seeing six of its racers on the women’s side finish in the top 25, while the men finished with four racers in the top 25.
