Floyd, Scudder Tabbed as Alaska League All-Stars

MANHATTAN, Kan. – K-State baseball’s Jordan Floyd and Jake Scudder were named Alaska Baseball League All-Stars this past weekend as the two rising seniors participated in the mid-season all-star game on July 17 at Mulcahy Stadium in Anchorage.

Floyd and Scudder, who were two of the 11 Mat-Su Miners selected to the game, were members of the Blue Team that lost to Gold, 6-5.

A native of Topeka, Floyd is the league leader in saves with seven while he is 1-1 with a 0.56 ERA and 20 strikeouts in 14 appearances. The left-hander has yielded just eight hits and one run in 16 innings so far this summer.

Scudder, who also participated in the league’s Home Run Derby earlier in the day on Sunday, is second in the league in RBIs with 20. The first baseman is also batting .243 (25-for-103) with eight doubles and two home runs for Mat-Su.

The Miners currently sit atop the league standings with a 19-13 record.

Floyd and Scudder are two of five Wildcats to earn all-star distinctions this summer. Fellow senior Quintin Crandall was named a Prospect League All-Star as he is currently in the league’s top-10 for batting average, hits and doubles. Incoming freshmen Will Brennan (Blue Valley HS/Stilwell, KS) and Tristan Peterson (Canyon del Oro HS/Tucson, AZ) were named Mid-Plains League All-Stars in June.
