Former Wildcat Streb Tied for Second at The Open

MANHATTAN, Kan. – Former Kansas State men’s golfer Robert Streb fired a 6-under par 66 during the opening round of the 144th Open Championship at St. Andrew’s GC (Old Course) in Fife, Scotland.

Streb is in a six-way tie for second place entering round two, one stroke behind Dustin Johnson. He carded a 5-under par 31 during a bogey-free front nine with birdies on Nos. 1, 3, 5, 6 and 9. He started the back nine with a bogey on No. 10, but bounced back with birdies on the 12th and 15th holes followed by four-straight pars to end his round.

A native of Edmond, Oklahoma, Streb is currently sixth on the FedExCup rankings thanks to seven top-10 finishes and 11 top-25 finishes. He won his first PGA Tour event this season at The McGladrey Classic with a 14-under par 266.
