Idaho State Quotes

Head Coach Joe O’Brien

On not being able to win the keys to the game (rebounding, limit turnovers, and create easy shots) ...

“We were not able to accomplish any of those keys that we talked about before the game. It was a short preparation since we played Thursday afternoon, so there wasn’t much time between now and Thursday to start talking about K-State. When you start on Friday it really only is a 24 hour preparation. We showed video of K-State to our players that showed that they (K-State) are a very good offensive rebounding,  high pressure perimeter team, and they will really work you from wing to wing and one end of the floor to the other. Once you break their pressure you can find some layup opportunities and in the first half we missed four layups that would have made a difference at where the half ended.”

On the style of play this afternoon...

“It was a very high contact oriented game. There was a lot of physical play, a lot of bump and run, and hand-checks and knocking each other around. That is not the way the games will be played in our league and that is not the way the games have been played so far this season.”

On what he likes about what he saw from his team today...

”I liked the way Chron (Tatum) competed in the game early on. Unfortunately he got two early fouls and had to go to the bench. Having that take place I thought it was good opportunity and experience for Sherrod Baldwin. I thought Phyllip Taylor answered the bell and took advantage of his opportunity today. That is good to know because there is some players right now that I am not sure if they are on the same page as the rest of the team.”
