Chicago State Quotes

Head Coach Benjy Taylor

On K-State’s defense on guard David Holston...

“They (K-State) did a really good job defensively with him one on one. (Jacob) Pullen and (Denis) Clemente were probably the best defenders on him all year and I’m including when we played Marquette and Illinois. I thought they stayed in front and made him shoot over the top. He (Holston) has got to learn from this, but earlier in this game he missed some open looks that would have given him some confidence.”

On if K-State is Big 12 ready...

“I think they are and I’m sure that coach (Martin) won’t say that. They play hard, they run their offense, and they get a lot of 50-50 balls which is very important when you get into conference play. They are very deep, and I think they are very good. We have never played anybody else in the Big 12, but I think they are right there with Illinois and Marquette.”

On benefit of playing K-State...

“It is a long trip to come out and play against a Big 12 opponent. My guys are young, K-State was stronger, bigger and deeper. Our athletic department benefits from the money that we get for playing this game. We just try to keep our confidence and get back home. We have two very important games against independent teams and that is where we need to make our mark. We hung around early and then we made some mistakes with some young kids and then they pulled away. Other than that this game was over pretty early.”
