Kansas State Player Quotes

Forward Darren Kent

On free throw shooting...

“The big games are rolling around. The games are going to be closer we are not going to have 30 point victories. Free throws are going to be key to how many wins we are actually going to get so we need to start knocking them down.”

On playing as a team...

“We are starting to get a rhythm has a team out there (on the court) and are starting to share the ball well. Everybody has been shooting it well, so that is nice and hopefully that continues as Big 12 play goes on. The biggest thing is that we are playing as a team and that is the most important part to us.”

“More guys have to get up there and rebound. We can’t rely on two guys like we did last year. This year it has to be a team effort and so far we have been showing that with guys averaging in double figures and we had six guys in double figures tonight. Defensively we need to rely on everyone. Everybody needs to work as a team and stay in sync with one another and it has been going well so far.”

Guard Fred Brown

On his career night...

“It was great. We did our job. We were drawing the defenders in and kicking it out for the shot. I was just feeling it tonight and they were falling, so I kept shooting. In all I think we were ready we just have to have the mentality to smell blood and keep going.”

On how comfortable he is shooting the ball right now...

“I have improved a lot since last year. I worked hard in the off-season and I continue to work on my shot day in and day out and by doing that everything will fall into place. If you put in the hard work, good things will come out of it.”

On Chicago State’s David Holston...

“I think they told us before we came in that he was number three in the nation. Being number three in the nation you are going to get shots, and you are going to make shots. We just have to play defense hard and make sure every shot he attempts is a contested one.”
