Kansas State Player Quotes

Senior Forward Ashley Sweat

On today's performance...
"The main thing for us is that we got up nine in the first half and then straight back down to zero. We continued to play hard in the second half. I think coming out of halftime as well as we did was so huge for this team and shows how much we have grown. Six games ago I do not think you would have said that especially against a team like Kansas. I think we were all shocked when we saw that our largest lead of the ballgame was 29 points. That is something that we did not expect but it was pleasant surprise."

On the defense today...
"I think that we team defended so well today and just played really smart. Our coaches did such a good job on the scout team this week. I think this is the first time this year that everybody we put in the game was accountable and that shows the maturity of this team."

Senior Guard Kari Kincaid

On her defensive game plan ...
"A lot of it was team defense. I knew we were going to be guarding one of the best players in the nation (Danielle McCray) and I took that as a challenge. I felt like anytime she got around me I got a lot of help from my teammates. I know Danielle did not make as many shots as she wanted to. She is one of the best player I have played against and I guess when you give a player such respect it helps you play defense against them."

On what they will get out of this game...
"Hopefully it is something that we can build off of. I hope our young players know every game will not be like this. It is war every single game and I hope we take this as confidence booster."

Sophomore Forward Jalana Childs

On her performance...
"I wanted to come into the game finishing well on offense. The past few games I have not been doing that. I decided to change it up and use some jump-hooks. I have just been trying to work hard in practice and hope it transitions to the game."
