Kansas Coach and Player Quotes

Head Coach Bonnie Hendrickson

On how she would describe her team's performance...
"Gut-wrenching would be the word that I would use. Publically, gut-wrenching is the word I would use."

On the lesson learned...
"You have three kids that were up here before me that have played a lot of basketball. Two of them are seniors. Whatever level you play at or whatever level your experience is, you have to play hard. The numbers that Danielle (McCray) puts up when we lose tell the story. They are of dramatic difference from when we win."

On coming back in the first half...
"It was the first time we have been able to do that. So I thought, 'ok it looks like we have grown and found some poise', because we have never been able to do that, which is an issue for us on the road. Then we came out in the second half and laid an egg, which we have done a couple times this year. Sweat (Ashley) scored a couple times on us then got to the free throw line as well. Then we turned the ball over and we just couldn't recover."

Senior Guard Danielle McCray

On today's performance ...
"Today I think we just came out a little slow in the first half. Then we did a good job of coming back to get it close. I think in the second half we just could not make a shot for anything. We were not aggressive on the boards, and nothing was falling for us so our second chance points were not there. K-State was being aggressive and taking us one-on-one. It was a tough afternoon for us and a hard loss. K-State was a better team today."

On why this is so disappointing...
"I think it is because this year we have a lot more talent than last year. As far as person to person we are a lot better from last year. It is just hard to come out and have performance like that."

Senior Guard Sade Morris

On what they needed to do different...
"We needed to come out with more fight. We just couldn't get it right in the second half."
