Head Coach Deb Patterson Quotes

On the game...

“This was a game that we are able to bring a balance to the floor offensively and the overall defensive efforts were real high caliber and I was really impressed with the production we got out of our bench they did a nice job of getting us some points and significant defensive adjustments and it was big for us as well that we committed so well to rebounding the ball. Missouri is strong, they’re quick to the ball, they bring good size and I thought we did a nice job of sustaining that from the first to the second half. That was a big factor in allowing us to get some transition baskets.”

On the play of Marlies Gipson...

“The difference of Marlies Gipson from her freshman to her sophomore year was very obvious today in the maturity and the composure of her making plays. When I saw her struggle in the backcourt and then able to make plays with great composure and attack mentality, that reminded me of Nicole Ohlde and so many plays that she would make in the backcourt at her size bringing the ball up against great athletes .”

On possibility of making the Top 25...

“For us it’s not necessarily something we are focused on. I think you understand your will early in conference play you have such great challenges in front of you every night. I believe it’s a compliment to the work ethic and competitiveness at this stage in the season that our team has brought to the floor. I think it provides us an opportunity that if it does happen to get consideration in March when the committee is making decisions. We all understand we are so far away from that and there is so much basketball to be played. Compliment our team for remaining competitive early in the season and playing hard. Those kind of things take care of themselves but they are always favorable in that they draw national attention to the program.”
