Kansas State Quotes

Kansas State vs. Texas A&M
Kansas State Coach Quotes
Head Coach Frank Martin
On Denis Clemente's performance...
"Denis is a good player and he likes to win. He does not like losing and that loss a couple days ago did not sit well in his stomach. The last couple days in practice he has been phenomenal. The leadership that he has shown has been big time. He decided to put the team on his back and he was going to find a way to win this game tonight."

On the rebounding...
Rebounding is all about effort. Guys on the offensive end of the floor that do not go rebound are selfish because they did not get the shot or they do not try. Defensively it is a different rebound. You have to stick to your defensive assignments, box out and then go get the ball. I am not going to tolerate guys that do not play with effort and do not play to win. Our guys came into the practice the last couple days and without having to run some special drills they got the message. We went out tonight and I think we set the tone from the word go and got good rebounds.

On the offensive performance...
"We were better. We got the ball into the post and rebounded the ball. I think Jamar (Samuels) came out and played well. He can rebound better than he is but he came out, along with Denis (Clemente), with a chip on his shoulder and that is what leadership is all about."

On winning 13 straight home games...
"It is a credit to the kids. They are taking a lot of pride and not wanting to repeat what happened Saturday. We knew we needed to protect this home court and we did not want to lose two in a row because if you do that then that could turn into three in a row. You have to protect your home court and you have to avoid losing streaks."

Kansas State player quotes
Sophomore forward Jamar Samuels
On the team's shooting...
"We had a great shoot-around today and that showed in the game. Everybody made shots today and everybody went through the plays correctly and it was just a great shoot-around."

On Denis (Clemente)'s shooting...
"It was unbelievable. At times I would not even attempt to go after the offensive rebounds because his (Clemente) shots looked good so I just ran back. He made three straight and I knew that it would be a good night ."

Sophomore forward Dominique Sutton
On the defensive effort...
"The last two days of practice we prepared well for Texas A&M. We were focused and were still upset from the Missouri game. We came into practice that day with the mindset that we have to defend our home court."
