K-State Player Quotes

Guard Shalee Lehning
On her play today...
“I just went for what the defense was giving me. At half time we did talk about getting more aggressive and having more of a flow on the offensive end. I think in the first half we were kind of disoriented on offense but in the second half we kind of got things together. I think Marlies (Gipson) and others set good on ball screens and we were able to read each other pretty well. If we can stay connected like that on offense then we should perform better than we did in the first half here today.”

On the early shooting trouble...
“You just have to work to keep your composure during times like that. You are going to miss shots and you are also going to miss every shot you don’t take. We just have to keep taking the extra shot. We usually make those open shots so we just have to keep our focus and continue to work hard.”

Forward Marlies Gipson
On her shot when the shot clock was winding down...
“I saw the shot clock going down, so I knew I needed to be aggressive taking it up and just hope that it hits rim. I knew if I could at least hit rim it would give us an opportunity at an offensive rebound. Fortunately, it went in.”

On Iowa State’s post play...
“They are very physical and tonight was no exception. They are not as big as a Paris (Courtney) from Oklahoma so using our quickness was important and working the high/low post. I think me and Ashley connected well on that (high/low) tonight.”
