K-State Coach Quotes

Head Coach Deb Patterson
On Iowa State’s game...
“Our players bring to the floor accountability and awareness to what makes Iowa State good. They (Iowa State) are still going to school you a number of plays because they’re that good and that is why they are picked to take third in the Big 12 pre-season polls. That is just an unbelievable honor to be picked to finish third in the Big 12 for the pre-season. I have unbelievable appreciation of their abilities and talents that they bring to the floor. They make great plays are smart. You have to counter them somehow, and you have to find a way to win.”

On bouncing back after last week’s loss...
“A loss is a loss. You can have x-number of losses in this league. If anybody goes undefeated through this league, I will eat my hat. I would just be extremely surprised if anybody went undefeated because the league is just that good. I don’t care if it’s North or South, it doesn’t matter. The reality is everybody you line up against has the potential to beat you. We understand that there are things we didn’t do well and there are going to be things all season long that we have to do better to find a way to win games. That is why we play the game.”

On Iowa State’s poor shooting...
“Anytime they don’t make a three, I just wipe my brow. They are so good at getting three’s and if they don’t get them, they are really good at getting open layups. They are like the team of extremes; a team of three’s, a team of layups, and a team of free throws. They know how to maximize the game and that’s what makes them so hard to guard. Their players are just great system players. They are extremely well coached, but any time you can find a way to defend them, it’s really exciting.”
