K-State Player Quotes

Senior Guard Kimberly Dietz

On pulling ahead in the second half...

“They were playing awesome during that stretch, and we got a little bit shaken there. But I love this team because each and every one of us doesn’t give up. No matter who it is we keep fighting back. We knew we got down, and we just had to get some buckets and that’s what we did.”

On the team working together...

“We’ve got some great people on this team. Ashley Sweat has really stepped up and been hitting those threes when we need it. (Kari) Kincaid is just amazing; she can shoot it from wherever. If you ask her to shoot it from half-court she will. Our team does a great job of setting picks and getting us open. It works and we’re there to convert. It’s all about the team, great picks, and then everybody can just let it fly.”

On beating Colorado...

“I’ve played with a couple of people on that team. It feels great to beat them just because it was the school I grew up (watching), and looking at. It was a little extra special know that my family came out and got to see it. (Colorado) has always been a great team, and I give them a lot of credit.”

Junior Guard Shalee Lehning

On Marlies Gipson...

“Marlies is such a great talented player. She brings so many different things to the court. She has so many different elements to her game that people don’t notice. She’s very active and very athletic on defense. It’s amazing if you would watch how many shots she can change just by virtue of her athleticism. She makes it so much harder for teams just by making them adjust shots. You don’t really notice that on the stats sheet. It’s just the little things. She’s constantly working, she’s very active, she’s so athletic that she can pull down rebounds, and then on the offensive end she just finds ways to create, and make things happen. When she makes shot we are all just in awe.”
