Martin Named Assistant AD for Business

MANHATTAN, Kan. - Stacy Martin, Senior Associate Athletics Director/Chief Operating Officer at San Jose State, has been named Assistant Athletics Director for Business at Kansas State, Director of Athletics John Currie has announced.

In her new role, Martin will supervise the athletic business office and report to Reid Sigmon, Senior Associate Athletics Director for Administration.

"We are very excited to announce the hiring of Stacy to lead our athletic business office," Currie said. "I appreciate the outstanding and thorough work of our search committee in this process, which yielded a very strong pool of candidates. Stacy has most recently served in a senior role at San Jose State, brings great perspective to Kansas State, and we look forward to her joining our staff."

For the past five years, Martin has had fiscal oversight for the San Jose State athletic department's $20-million annual budget which includes 16 sports, 32 units and 125 employees. "I am grateful for the opportunity to join Kansas State University and be part of the Wildcat team," Martin said. "There are so many great things happening at K-State that make this transition exciting, and I feel very fortunate to join such a talented staff and passionate community of Wildcat fans."

She began her professional career as a San Jose State ticket office employee in 2002 before moving to the business office in January 2003 and earning a promotion to Athletics Business Manager in 2004. In 2006, she was named an associate athletic director.

Martin is the second vice-president of CABMA (College Athletic Business Management Association) for 2009-10. She holds memberships in NACDA (National Association of College Directors of Athletics), Beta Gamma Sigma (International Honors society for studies in Business), WISC (Women In Sports Careers), NACWAA (National Association Of Collegiate Women Athletic Administrators) and the Golden Key International Honor Society.

A native of Nebraska, Martin was a four-time letterwinner and former captain of the Spartan women's gymnastics team. The 2002 SJSU graduate majored in business administration and corporate financial management and also earned an M.B.A. from SJSU in finance in 2005.
