K-State Player Quotes

Forward Darren Kent

On tonight’s performance...

“They just went on another run that we couldn’t get out of. Teams have been digging holes in our defense and we’ve been having trouble getting out of them. We try to make some good runs in the second half and they would just answer every time. We came out a little flat but we tried to pick up the energy in the second half and that’s just the way we need to play from the get go. We need to bring that energy right away and we didn’t do that tonight.”

On where the team in mentally right now...

“It’s always tough to lose four in a row. Most of these guys were on the team with us last year that had a losing streak like this one towards the end of that season and we dug out of it last year. We know we have the talent, we come to practice everyday and we work as hard as we can. It’s just about going out every game and executing and getting it done. We are digging ourselves too big of holes in the game that we can’t get out of. We need to keep the energy and the fire and we should be fine.”

On whether slow starts are mental...

“It’s not like we come out at the start of the game and not want to make shots. Like Coach Frank has been saying we are taking good shots they are just not falling. If we hit those shots then we’ll be going in with the lead and hopefully we can continue on that end but tonight they weren’t falling. Shots are going to fall for us and we are going to be alright.”

On whether LaceDarius Dunn’s 33 points was a team or individual problem...

“That’s a team defense problem, we just kind of wore down mentally. He made shots. We would trap the ball and we didn’t have very good rotation and he would knock down open shots.”
