Kansas Coach Bonnie Henrickson
Thoughts on the game...
“Our most glaring statistic is our inability to knockdown the free throw but what is magnified is you go 7-18 here and you still have a chance to win. That shows how well you do a lot of other things. Defensively we were good and we were up on our feet on the boards. Nobody will beat Danielle up for missing the shot at the end, there’s a lot of different plays where we weren’t very good and we let them shoot lay ups in the first half but I’m awfully proud of these kids.”
On the play of the team in the second half...
“We forced tough shots and I thought we were good at times. They made a little run in the second half but I thought Shaq (Mosley) was good, Porscha (Weddington) plays around the rim a little bit, Shaq plays around the rim but I thought the pursuit of the ball was fantastic and I thought we forced tough shots and went and got it. I thought our effort to the glass was good but I don’t know that our numbers are as good as they need to be. ”
Senior Guard Shaquina Mosley
On defensive improvement...
“We gave up a lot of easy baskets against
Freshman Guard Kelly Kohn
On the pressure of playing in Bramlage Coliseum...
“It’s a tought place to play in. Between the rivalry things get pretty wild. I think right now, my free throws are a mental thing. In practice, we shoot great but during games we don’t step up to the line with confidence. It’s a mental thing right now, we can all shoot the ball well from the free throw line, we just need to start stepping up with some confidence. This is a tought pLace to play, for many of us this is the first time we’ve ever played here against our rival. There are some things that we can take out of this game that are positive and we can get ourselves to play better.”
Freshman Forward Danielle McCray
On playing against K-State...
“Playing with some of the girls on K-State’s team in AAU, I think we all wanted it. Playing against them and loosing has made things difficult”
On the final shot...“I was upset with myself with that shot, like coach said, it’s not just that last shot at the end of the game that cost us the game”
