K-State Player Quotes

Sophomore Guard Jacob Pullen

On tonight’s performance...

“You can say this is the best 40 minutes we have played this year. We played well and had intensity today. We really wanted to get out and just scare them and show them how aggressive we could be in our aggressive trap. A team with a lot of freshman, sophomores, and one senior, we have some of inexperience and lost a few games in a row which made us forget how to win.  So getting that win at Colorado, provided us that spark telling us that we can beat any team in the Big 12 and get a winning streak going.”

On starting the second half with three straight three-pointers...

“I made the first one, and then Denis (Clemente) found me for the next two.  They were trying to relocate and Denis did a good job getting in the lane and kicking it to me. It felt good, even when I tried to pump fake and lean into my man.”

On making a run to take a commanding lead...

“We take everything as a learning experience. The games we were not able to do that, hurt us. Even when we made a run, we were just getting back into the game, instead of taking the lead. We made a run today and extended it to 20. For us to be able to put ourselves in the driver seat really helps us and does not make anyone panic incase they make a run. When Denis (Clemente) hit the three going into half calmed them down from making a run and gave us more excitement to our game.”

Freshman Forward Jamar Samuels

On the preparation going into tonight’s game...

“Our main focus in practice has been to just relax and play our game.  The coaching staff showed us a clip of us playing before Christmas break and it looked like we were all having fun. So, today we just came out and had fun. It is great momentum to have two wins in a row in the Big 12. We are just taking it game by game.”

On his overall performance...

“It felt like a great day today. Earlier, I told Deon Murphy that I felt good today. Deon told me that he hoped I played well today. I have been shooting the three in practice a lot lately, so hopefully it will go in now, unlike the first couple of threes I shot. Our defense was great tonight. Missouri shot 39%, so that is good defense as we got at it today.”
