The Wildcats’ starting lineup Wednesday evening was senior guard Clent Stewart, senior guard Blake Young, freshman guard Dominique Sutton, freshman forward Bill Walker and freshman forward Michael Beasley... Beasley and Young are the only two Wildcats to start in every game this season... It marks the first time that the Wildcats have used this starting five... With the win, Kansas State is now 1-0 with this lineup.

 

The Wildcats’ win snapped a 24-game winning streak in Manhattan by the Jayhawks and the first win ever for K-State in Bramlage Coliseum... K-State’s last win over the Jayhawks in Manhattan was a 58-57 victory on Jan. 29, 1983 in Ahearn Fieldhouse... K-State inched closer with Wednesday’s win but still trail in the all-time series 90-173... K-State trails the Jayhawks 44-71 all-time at home.

 

The attendance at Bramlage Coliseum was 12,528... It’s the fifth time this season that Kansas State has sold out... Season tickets are sold out for the second straight year.

 

The win also extended the Wildcats’ current overall win streak to six games and extended their home winning streak to eight... K-State continued its best start to Big 12 Conference play with five consecutive wins... The five-game streak to open conference competition is the best since the 1987-88 team started Big Eight Conference play with six consecutive wins.

 

Kansas State led 38-36 at the half... The Wildcats’ seven three-point makes are the second highest total for one half of play this season...Kansas State was 7-for-15 (46.7 percent) from three-point range compared to 3-for-9 (33.3 percent) for the Jayhawks in the period... Kansas State led 8-5 in second chance scoring while out-rebounding the Jayhawks 11-5 on the offensive end.

 

Kansas State poured in a season-high 12 baskets from behind the three-point arc... The Wildcats twice notched 10 threes in wins over Texas A&M and Iowa State... Through 19 contests, K-State is averaging 6.7 made threes per game.

 

Beasley scored 25 points and grabbed six rebounds... The freshman had just eight points at the half before scoring the first nine for the Wildcats in the second... Beasley led all scorers and has led K-State in scoring in 16 games this season... He was 9-for-18 (50 percent) from the field and a perfect 4-for-4 (100 percent) from behind the three-point arc... Beasley has reached double figures in 18 contests this season.

 

Walker carried the Wildcats early and scored 12 points in the first half despite being limited to just 11 minutes because of foul concerns... He finished the night with 22 points and five rebounds... Walker has reached double figures in 14 contests this season and 18 times in his career.

 

K-State’s other freshmen, Jake Pullen and Dominique Sutton, contributed significantly... Pullen scored a career-high 22 points and was a perfect 10-of-10 from the free throw line... In the past five games, Pullen has 24 assists compared with just five turnovers... Sutton, who made his first career start Wednesday, tied for the team lead with six rebounds and led the Wildcats with two steals.

 

The win marks the 16th game this season in which the Wildcats have scored at least 75 points... The 16 games of at least 75 points surpasses the entire total from the past 16 seasons, including the 10 in 2006-2007... Kansas State is 10-0 this season when scoring at least 80 points.

 

Stewart reached double figures in scoring for the eighth time this season and 21st time in his career with 11 points and five rebounds... Stewart was 2-of-3 from behind the three-point arc... Young led K-State with a career-high five assists.
